Locating the frames (Lots of isosceles triangles!) | |
You will be installing 4 sets of frames. Starting at the apex of the bow and measure
back and along the top edge of each side. | | Make a mark on the top of the
side panels at each frame.
|
| Marking the Frame lines
| |
Take a square and lay the short leg inside the boat on the chine pointing toward
the middle of the boat. Slide the square along the chine until the long blade hits
the pencil mark and draw the line. Make a X on the side closer to the middle of
the boat. Do this for both sides of the boat. When you are done you
should have four sets of frame lines.
| |
Take the frame and line up its edge with the line. Make sure the frame covers the
x. Draw a line on the other edge of the frame. Remove the frame and drill four
evenly spaced 3/32 inch holes down the center of the pencilled frame outline.
These are your pilot holes for your frame nails.
